The way that urban planners use lights to try and make public spaces brighter at night seems to be becoming more standardised.

I was wandering home and noticed the way the various street-lamps and ambient city lights created multiple-layered shadows of this tree against the brick wall.
Spotted this whilst on the way home the other day. Plenty of tonality and shades of contrast. The sharpness and granularity of the steel lock and chain, against the soft background of the lights of the city.
High contrast night scenes are always improved by harsh lighting, I find. And a reflection or two doesn’t go amiss also.
From the 1960s (and probably before), there have been many variations on the work, sleep, consume, obey type street graffiti. Found this one a little while ago, which I thought was an interesting variation. And it goes well with the backdrop.
