This was actually taken at dusk, as far as I remember. Using a Canon P rangefinder and Neopan 400 film. It’s one of those occasions where I wonder what the image would have looked like had I used a digital camera.

With my Sony Nex-7 and Zeiss 24mm lens (which is the same 35mm equivalent as the Voigtlander I used with the Canon), I don’t think the contrast would have been as high. Sure, I could have changed that with Photoshop, but I don’t think I would have. Chances are I’d have tried to preserve more of a gradual change in tones.

As it is, it worked out more or less as I’d hoped. Almost nineteenth century vaudevillian in its look. But maybe that’s just fairgrounds all over.
